DIRECTOR GENERAL OF SOUTH ASIA DIVISION OF MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF JAPAN VISITS COLOMBO DOCKYARD

On July 15th, 2022, a team of high-profile missions from Japan visited Colombo Dockyard PLC, the pioneering shipbuilder and the Ship Repairer of Sri Lanka.

The visit was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan with the patronage of the Japanese embassy in Sri Lanka to welcome the Director General of the South Asia Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

Japanese ambassador to Sri Lanka, Director South Asia Division, Assistant Director South Asia Division, Japanese Minister (Deputy Ambassador), Second Secretary (Economic Section), and Second Secretary (JP Army Lieutenant) were among the other dignitaries present.

The team was briefed with a company presentation by the Chairman of Colombo Dockyard PLC Mr. Hideaki Tanaka and had a brief yard tour as well covering the ongoing projects sites and the workshops. The tour was concluded with a fruitful discussion on how to overcome the current difficulties faced by the Colombo Dockyard under the challenging economic situation of Sri Lanka.

Colombo Dockyard PLC operates in collaboration with Onomichi Dockyard Company Limited of Japan which owns a stake of 51% at Colombo Dockyard PLC.
