Onomichi’s long and reputed history in the shipbuilding and ship repair business and the introduction of efficient training and development programs has enhanced the professionalism, skills and technical expertise of the engineers and workers of Colombo Dockyard.
Onomichi Dockyard Co. Ltd. is a company with a long history of over 65 years. The Head Office is located in Kobe, Hyogo and the dockyard is based in Onomichi, Hiroshima.
Onomichi has established credibility in the ocean transportation industry with their propensity towards superior shipbuilding and have succeeded in the development of next-generation vessels under the concepts of ‘Environment’,‘Safety’, ‘Operation’ and ‘Maintenance’. They have also started operations at two new factories located near the Onomichi Shipyard, pipe fabrication center and block assembly and fabrication factory aimed at furthering our ship building capacities.
Onomichi has built over 500 types of various vessels, including crude oil tankers, bulk carriers, ferryboats, and container carriers. Their vessels are built with the know-how acquired through years of experience. SAIKI HEAVY INDUSTRIES (located in Saiki, Oita) is one of their associate companies that has successfully built a series of vessels including a box shaped bulk carrier, chemical tankers, RO-RO cargo ships and passenger ships.
