| COLOMBO DOCKYARD CLINCHES A RS 7 BILLION EXPORT ORDER TO BUILD 2+2 NUMBERS 130T AHTSV’S FOR SINGAPORE BASED OWNERS |

| Colombo Dockyard PLC (CDPLC) reached yet another milestone in the odyssey of excellence by securing a significant contract for the construction of 2Nos. 130 T BP Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessels at a total contract price of approx. Rs. 7 billion. (With option for two more similar vessels). These vessels will be built for Singapore based owners.
The official signing of the contracts was held on 2nd September 2009 at Colombo Dockyard PLC head office premises with owner’s representatives and senior management of Colombo Dockyard along with Japanese Technical Advisors and staff participating at the contract signing ceremony to witness this momentous occasion.

| This was the first contract CDPLC penned with this new client and CDPLC had to outbid stiff competition from several South East Asian shipbuilding yards in order to secure this contract. This contract will enable CDPLC to traverse smoothly through these difficult times experienced the world over. The significance of this contract is that during recession times when other global yards record cancellation of confirmed orders, (some even having to close down their operations), CDPLC with its proven performance in the offshore industry sector have been able to attract new customers.
The eradication of terrorism, emergence of peace and political stability has immensely helped CDPLC to aggressively market our products successfully in the world arena.
This is the largest capacity vessel (bollard pull wise), that CDPLC has contracted in its 35 year history. | The vessel is designed to undertake supply duties between base offshore units, handling anchors, chain and piggy back anchors as well as suit casing anchors of pipe laying barges, semi-submersibles other moored offshore structures, towing of barges, semi-submersibles and other vessels.
The Vessels design has been developed by Moss Maritime AS of Norway, a world renowned Ship designing company having expertise and experience in the field of designing vessels, platforms and floaters used by the offshore industry.
Considering the complexity and nature of the work, CDPLC selected OEM’s of high repute with proven track record of performance for the machinery and equipment that will go onboard these vessels.
These Vessels shall be equipped with two Wartsila Main Engines made in Finland each developing a power of 4080 kW at 1000 rpm, driving two Swedish made Berg BCP 950 Controllable Pitch Propellers, two flap rudders, two tunnel thrusters at the bow, and two tunnel thrusters at the stern. This combination provides high level of manoeuvrability, optimum efficiency and cost effective operation for the Vessel.

| The all important Towing/ Anchor Handling Winch of Brake holding capacity of 400 Tonnes and the Deck Machinery Package inclusive of a 15 T Tugger Winch, 10 T Capstan, 500 T Stern Roller, 400 T shark Jaws, 300 T Towing Pins for the Vessel will be of European origin.
The two controllable pitch bow tunnel thrusters of 800 kW capacity each and two controllable pitch stern tunnel thrusters of 500 kW capacity each, will provide the necessary side thrust for manoeuvring, station keeping and Dynamic Positioning (DP) operations. The current Classification includes a DP 2 Notation.
The vessel is also equipped with an external fire fighting system and is classed as FiFi-1.
The vessel shall be outfitted with machinery and equipment in accordance with the latest rules and regulations of Det Norske Veritas.
These vessels are scheduled to be delivered end of June 2011 and end September 2011.
