The high profile delegation from Class NK headed by Mr. Noboru Ueda, Chairman and President of Class NK (Nippon Kaili Kyokai) visited Colombo Dockyard PLC on 14th July 2011 on a courtesy call.
Noboru Ueda, Chairman and President of Class NK (Nippon Kaili Kyokai) accompanied by senior Class NK officials Mr. Y.Seto- Manager, Dr. M.Rahim-Regional Manager, Mr. A.V.Pradhan- GM, NK Mumbai, Mr. S.Sampath-Manager, NK Mumbai, Mr. Higashi-Manager, NK Singapore visited Colombo Dockyard PLC on 14th July 2011 on a courtesy call.
The senior officials of Colombo Dockyard headed by Mr. A. Nakauchi, Chairman were present at this meeting.
During this visit a brief presentation of Colombo Dockyard, on the capabilities of the yard on the Ship repair, shipbuilding, heavy engineering and offshore engineering activities was made by Mr. Darshana Chandrasekera – Head of Marketing, Ship Repairs and subsequently an inspection of the ship yard were made.
The high profile Class NK delegation’s visit to Colombo Dockyard was to announce the opening of the exclusive Class NK Local Area Representative office at Colombo on the 14th of June 2011.
Increasingly active local marine sector has been attracting many international ship owners / lines to Colombo for repairs, cargo other support service requirements. This is resultant of the highly conducive business climate in the country over the past two years with the dawn of Peace in the country.
This high profile visit of Class NK officials is clear evidence of international recognition of Colombo, Sri Lanka as major player in the international marine arena.
